On February 9, 2009, Sandra Wienke, Ogden Rose Librarian, filmed a five minute spot called “Comcast Newsmakers” at Comcast in Champaign, Illinois. The spot was randomly shown during the CNN Headline News time slot.
Ms. Wienke said, “I just told them some things we offer at the library, how big the library was, and what was new at the library.” And that, of course was the wireless.” Sandra added that as a result many people had come to the library asking about the new wireless network. She agreed to do the spot to get the word out. The purpose of Comcast Newsmakers is to develop programming for community organizations to share good things happening locally.
