Local comic book collector David Laker will present “Catch All the Action!: A Celebration of the Great American Comic Book” at the Danville Public Library on Saturday, April 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. The free program will be held in the first floor Meeting Room and is sponsored by the Danville Public Library Teen Advisory Board. The program is open to all ages.
Laker has been collecting comics since he was eight years old. Growing up in Fithian, he found it a little difficult to find a supply of comic books, but he persisted through the years until he had amassed a collection of 30,000 comic books. After paring down the collection, he now owns 15,000 comic books. His favorites are about Batman and X-Men.
The library is located at 319 N. Vermilion Street. It is open Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The library’s website is www.danville.lib.il.us. Anyone may use the library’s materials and services in the building without a library card. Persons wishing to borrow library materials must obtain a library card. The library honors cards from all Illinois public libraries.
