John Dreher, Community Development Manager with the City of Danville, will present “What’s all the fuss about lead?” on Wednesday, May 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the first floor Meeting Room of the Danville Public Library. Dreher is also an Illinois licensed lead risk assessor (Lic. #L-008111). He will bring equipment to demonstrate how lead levels are determined. Participants may bring an item to be tested as part of the demonstration.
Dreher will explain why people should be concerned about lead, whether recent changes in the Consumer Product Safety Information Act will affect what thrift shops or book stores can sell, how they can keep their homes and businesses lead-safe, and what self-tests they can perform to assess whether the presence of lead is hazardous to them, their employees, and their children.
