The Danville Public Library Book Club will discuss Jane Austen’s classic novel “Pride and Prejudice” at its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the second floor Conference Room of the library. New readers are always welcome.
Copies of the book may be borrowed through the library’s interlibrary loan service for free or may be purchased at the Checkout Desk of the library through an arrangement with the Village Mall Waldenbooks.
The 2005 film version of “Pride and Prejudice” will be shown at the library on Monday, June 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m., as the second in the “Great Books to Great Films” series sponsored by the library and the Danville Library Foundation.
Book Club members will be discussing other books featured in the upcoming months of the library’s “Great Books to Great Films” series. On June 25, they’ll discuss James Dickey’s novel “Deliverance”, which will be featured on film at the library on July 13. The Book Club selection for July 23 will be “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” by B. Traven, which will be featured on film on August 10. On August 27, the Book Club will discuss “Washington Square”, the classic novel by Henry James that will be featured on film at the library as “The Heiress” on September 14.
