International best-selling author Jennifer Weiner, praised for taking “chick lit” to a higher level, will be at the Champaign Public Library to talk about her life and her books on Sunday, July 25. A book signing, open to the general public, will follow her 2 pm presentation.
Weiner’s 2001 debut novel, Good in Bed, quickly rose on the New York Times’ bestseller list. Her next book, In Her Shoes, became a major film starring Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette. Her newest novel, Fly Away Home, will be released July 13.
Free tickets for the program will be available for Champaign residents to pick up starting Saturday, July 10, at 10 am, at the library. Tickets must be picked up in person, with a limit of two per person. Recipients will be asked to show proof of their Champaign address. Seating to see the program via live video feed will also be available. Any tickets still remaining on July 21 will be released to the general public.
To help fans get ready for the book signing, copies of Weiner’s books will be sold at the library checkout desk starting Friday, July 9. Book sale proceeds will benefit the library.

Marshall Public Library invites you to get to know four very different authors this summer at our Late Summer Author Series on four Thursday evenings. Join us for a book talk by each author, conversation, and a chance to purchase a signed copy of his or her book.
The series begins with a visit from John and Mary Kilgore on July 8th, at 6:30 PM. The Kilgore’s authored Echoes from the Past: A Memoir of Family Heritage. This book is a memoir of family history that follows their adventures in genealogy and the unexpected pleasures that came with reconnecting with family long separated by both miles and years.
The Danville Public Library is a valuable asset to our community. Everyone is welcome to come in to use the multitude of resources available. For the residents who are unable to come to the library due to physical or mental limitations, their lives will be enhanced thanks to the generosity of Clifton Gunderson LLP. The Danville accounting firm will be providing funding to the Library Foundation to make sure that the Library’s Outreach Department has total wireless connectivity that will allow the staff and volunteers to access the patron and library databases that are necessary to complete transactions and maintain accurate inventory records no matter where they are located. Additional funds will be used to expand the Library’s Outreach services by adding books and materials in Braille and low-vision formats.
On Friday, June 25, at 3 p.m., in the library’s first floor Meeting Room, author and historian Bob O’Connor will give the Danville area audience a “sneak preview” of Ward Hill Lamon’s unpublished manuscript with a presentation and a reading. Copies of O’Connor’s four previous books about Lamon and the Civil War will be available for purchase and autographing.
Ward Hill Lamon was a Danville lawyer; Abraham Lincoln’s friend and law partner; a U. S. Marshal and personal bodyguard to the new President Lincoln. In 1872, he wrote The Life of President Lincoln; From His Birth to His Inauguration as President. At his death in 1893, he left an unpublished manuscript, The Life of Abraham Lincoln as President. This past year, O’Connor edited Lamon’s manuscript. It is scheduled to be published in Fall 2010.
