| What is unique about your library? |
| We have a great genealogy collection. Genealogy has a dedicated room upstairs and we have a staff member who works 2 nights a week in genealogy. We have the Villa Grove newspaper on microfiche and a reader. People have come from all over the US to use our collection and we think that it is very cool. |
| What are the primary goals and objectives of your library? |
|
|
| What cooperative efforts are you currently doing? |
|
|
| Tell us a story about your library. |
Recently, we had 2 memorial
donations left to the library. I contacted the families and asked if the money
could be used to spruce up the children’s section. Both families agreed and we
had our Kid’s Corner painted. It’s a very bright animal mural that the children
love. |
| If money were no object, what services would you add? |
| Space is always an issue, but if money were no object, the first thing I would do would be to buy a van and hire a person and start up home-bound service to our community. I would also start up a traveling story time that would go out into the community’s day cares. It would be wonderful to make a teen space in the library and even have a staff member dedicated to teen services. With more staff we could also have evening hours all year. |
| What is popular in your library? |
The movie section is very
popular. Books still top circulation, but more and more people are coming in to
check out movies. Our young patrons really enjoy the free stickers we give out. |
| How does your library use online tools to connect to your users? |
| We now have a website through Plinket. From our website we link to the LINC database and to the schools Advanced Reader site. We also offer wireless in our library. |
