What is unique about your library?

Our school is very proactive when it comes to staying on top of trends and that trickles down to the library as well. My administration is very supportive of the library. About 4 years ago the library obtained the classroom next door and we made it a computer lab for library instruction. I feel that although we can’t currently grow physically that we are always growing in other ways to continually meet the needs of our students and teachers.

What are the primary goals and objectives of your library?

Our primary goal is to meet the students, teachers and curriculum needs.

What cooperative efforts are you currently doing?

I work with the teachers, a lot more with the English teachers. In the fall I teach library instruction, how to use LTLS, and internet safety. In the spring I help with the research papers, research skills and internet site evaluation. I am always on the look out for new resources and articles that I might pass along to a teacher. The public library is our community pick up for LTLS delivery.

If money were no object, what services would you add?

I would really like to increase the size of the library. More space would allow a more spread out set up and make it easier for students to find what they need. I would update the non-fiction section, both in print and online databases. It would be great to have a library aide so that I could do more library instruction and projects. I would also like to have a bulletin board or smart board, where I could display and teach.

What is popular in your library?

Vampires are the most popular genre in our library. I can’t keep anything with vampires on the shelves. TV series based videos like: Dirty Jobs and Myth Busters, are also surprisingly popular.

How does your library use online tools to connect to your users?

The library has a website with links to the databases that I purchase. It also has research information for students. We have an extensive WWII collection and the book list is online as well.
