On Thursday, June 9th, beginning at 6:30 PM in Marshall Public Library’s Dale McConchie Meeting Room, Damian Macey will present a fascinating travelogue presentation that will take you into the ancient countries of both Turkey and Egypt. Macey will share photographs and commentary from a visit to the Middle East in 2006 that will bring the history and architecture from 2000 years ago into the present. Learn about how some of our modern conveniences existed in the first century. Visit St. Sophia, an orthodox church built in 500 AD, and the Blue Mosque built in the 1500’s. Learn about the ancient history of Ephesus and Istanbul in Turkey. Travel through Egypt past the pyramids still standing after 5000 years and ride into Giza where the past and present co-exist amongst the goat herds, Mercedes, camels, BMWs, and ox drawn vegetable carts.
