The Early Childhood and Parenting (ECAP) Collaborative at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a librarian (75% - 100%) for the Illinois Early Intervention (EI) Clearinghouse, which is funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services. The librarian will be responsible for working with subject experts in the areas of early intervention, child development, and early care and education on collection development; managing technical services, including working with Lincoln Trail Libraries System to maintain the EI Clearinghouse online catalog; managing public services and circulation; helping prepare materials for the Web site; and making the EI Clearinghouse a welcoming space for families and professionals involved in early intervention.
Required: MS in Library and Information Science or MLS from an accredited institution, strong writing and communication skills, strong interest in and commitment to providing information to parents of young children with special needs and early intervention professionals, and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Recommended: experience in a public library or a special library serving a diverse public; coursework or experience in early intervention, special education, child development, or early care and education, or related fields. Salary commensurate with experience. This is a visiting 75 – 100% - 12 month appointment. Proposed start date is as soon as possible after closing date.
