This is a reminder that on Tuesday, January 9, SirsiDynix will be upgrading Horizon to version 7.3.4 and LINCPac to version 3.08 during the morning. The upgrade will begin at 8:00 am central time and will take 3-6 hours. During this timeframe, Horizon and the LINCPac catalog will be unavailable. Please make certain that staff are aware of this downtime period and plan accordingly. We will also post status information about the upgrade on the LINC Status blog,
http://www.lincolntrail.info/systemstatus.html
Here are some other reminders:
1. During the downtime, staff can use PC Reliance to record circulation checkouts. This data can be uploaded after the downtime period finishes. Your staff should wait until the upgrade is finished and the go-ahead to upload PC Reliance, as well as directions for when this data will be processed, has been posted on the LINC status blog.
2. During the downtime, staff can utilize the SILC database to search holdings owned by your library. This online catalog is located at:
http://findit.ilsos.net/OCLC/ (click on 'Enter the Catalog')
3. After the upgrade is finished, staff will need to login using the Horizon 7.3.4 software (the 7.3.2 software will no longer work). The CD-Rom with the Horizon 7.3.4 software, as well as installation instructions, was sent to each library in November.
4. We've been advised by SirsiDynix that the upgrade may affect the display of non-Roman characters in the 'MyAccount' portion of the PAC. This may or may not be a problem for our site.
5. This upgrade will fix the problem with the new 13-digit isbn numbers not indexing correctly in Horizon and LINCPac. Once the upgrade is done, the ISBN index will include these new isbn numbers and can be searched via that index.
