Congratulations to Jim Sledge (below) and Karla Sylvester, Mattoon Senior High School Library! This library came online on Friday, September 21. Library staff completed the process of coming online in less than a year, adding more than 13,000 items and 1200 patron records to LINC during that time. Besides automating, the library was also completely remodelled during the summer.
The LTLS Symposium on The Future of Library Integrated Library Systems, held last week in Champaign, was a fantastic success. We've received very positive evaluations and follow-up thank you notes and have also sighted blog postings about the great speakers and presentations, the thought-provoking discussions, the diversity of attendees, and the local arrangements. We've posted all powerpoint presentations from the symposium on the conference agenda web site. In addition, there is a Symposium blog that gives summaries about the presentations. Feel free to post comments or add content to this blog.
Some interesting blog posts about the symposium have been made by others including posts by Karen Schneider, Kate Sheehan, and Tina Burger.
As you work through required end-of-year reports, don't forget that we've posted two 6 month summaries (July - December 2006 and January - June 2007) of LINC Interlibrary Loan, Reciprocal Borrowing, and Circulation statistics for all the LINC libraries. At this web site is an explanation of how the statistics were produced, as well as the statistical tables themselves.
Libraries that need individual monthly data or more detailed data should use the WebReporter reports referenced in the statistical explanations to produce their own reports.
A LINC Serials Training class has been scheduled for 10/1/2007, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at LTLS. This class is designed specifically for staff who checkin serial holdings through the serials module. Also included will be advanced skills such as publication patterns and adding vendors. Register for the class or see what other LINC training is being offered here.
