Library Thing ready for a preview

As an outcome of the ILS Symposium in September, we've been testing a product called Library Thing and now have it working in the test PAC (http://209.174.169.34:8080). Library Thing is a collaborative, social networking site where over 270,000 users input reviews and 'tag' items with their own subject headings. Library Thing is able to match ISBN's in our LINC catalog (62%) and provide additional content such as 'similar titles', 'other editions', and 'subject tags'.

To try this out, do a search in the test PAC for this book title: Black Swan Green. When viewing the full record, on the left sidebar, you will see additional information provided by Library Thing (Similar Titles and Tags). Try other searches and let us know what you think by sending an email to Pat Boze, pboze@lincolntrail.info.

Barcode Scanner order change

SirsiDynix has informed us that barcode scanners must now be ordered in quantities of 3. If you plan to purchase a barcode scanner from SirsiDynix and need less than 3, you will need to wait until we've received other orders to equal 3. We've posted the supported barcode scanner list on our web site. You can order these models from other vendors besides SirsiDynix.
