LINC Update

ILLINET/OCLC Group Services Pricing

All members of LINC received a letter from Anne Craig regarding your ILLINET/OCLC Group Services quote. For those of you who participated in the LTLS Cataloging Center this was significantly more than you had paid to ILLINET/OCLC. LTLS always paid ILLINET/OCLC cataloging charges for LTLS Cataloging Center libraries and included those charge as part of your quarterly LTLS Cataloging Center bill. Effective July 1, 2007, this practice will stop. Instead, you will be billed directly for OCLC/ILLINET cataloging charges by the OCLC/ILLINET billing office, which is what the estimate from Anne reflected. Your LTLS Cataloging Center bill (beginning July 1, 2007) will not include the ILLINET/OCLC charges, but only the LTLS related charges. LINC Policy Council Meeting 2/14/2007

The agenda and minutes for the February 14 LINC Policy Council meeting have been posted here. The meeting will be held at Lincoln Trail from 9:30 am - 11:30 am.

LINC Milestone - Bismarck-Henning Junior High

Bismarck-Henning Junior High began adding items to LINC on February 8. This library joined LINC with the help of an ISL automation grant and will be adding its collection of 6,000 items to the shared database over the next year.

Interlibrary Loan/Reciprocal Borrowing/Circulation Statistics posted

We've posted a 6 month summary (July - December 2006) of LINC Interlibrary Loan, Reciprocal Borrowing, and Circulation statistics. At this web site is an explanation of how the statistics were produced, as well as the statistical tables themselves.

-Interlibrary Loan data, which tracks where your materials circulate and what you circulate that belongs to other locations, is available for all libraries.
-Reciprocal Borrowing data, which tracks where your patrons go to borrow materials as well as what patrons used your location, applies to public libraries only.
-Circulation Statistics, which is a summary of all checkouts and renewals at your location, is available for all libraries.

We will post an additional 6 month summary (January - June 2007) in July. Libraries that need individual monthly data should use the WebReporter reports referenced in the statistical explanations to produce those monthly reports.

LTI Authority Update Done

We have finished loading in 24,090 changed/updated authorities in LINC. This process is done yearly, when LTI (the authority control vendor) sends an electronic file of all authorities that have changed in the last year. This process is diffferent from the quarterly authority load process where only new authorities, based on new bibliographic records that have been added to LINC in the last quarter, are loaded into LINC.

MyMediaMall will add additional downloadable video titles

MyMediaMall will soon have 500 new 'always available' downloadable video titles added to the collection. The collection will include top-circulating IMAX movies such as “The Living Sea” narrated by Meryl Streep, Academy Award Winning films, classic TV shows and dozens of other popular classic and concert videos. Look for these new titles by the end of February.
