MyMediaMall's new format and MACs

There have been some questions about whether the new MyMediaMall mp3 audiobook format can be used with MACs. Overdrive, the vendor for MyMediaMall, is still in the testing phase with MACs. Tentatively, this will be available by the end of the year.

Also, there is extensive information on the MyMediaMall help screens that relate to the new mp3 format that should answer most questions you and your patrons have. Here is the direct link to that section: http://www.mymediamall.net/A4B7939A-6D4C-4EE8-9302-C78145A67834/10/284/en/Help-FAQ-Format425.htm.

MyMediaMall and new format

The MyMediaMall (http://www.mymediamall.net) site is now live with the new MP3 Audiobooks format! MyMediaMall is also the first location to go live with five new features that have been added in response to requests from library partners and they are outlined below:

Wish List - When a patron finds a title that they are interested in checking out, including titles that have not yet been released, they can click 'add to wish list' to place the title on their 'My Wish List'. Patrons can add a title to their cart from the wish list when they are ready for it.

Editing email holds information - Patrons will be able to review their holds and edit their information on current holds(change their email address). Patrons can cancel/ edit text notifications details from either My Account > My Holds or a new page accessed via ‘My Account’.

Recommended Titles - When a patron is browsing the titles at your virtual site they will now see ‘Also recommended’ titles. The criteria used to determine which title(s) display at details page of each title are titles with same Creator(s) and Imprint publisher and titles that have Keywords in common.

Full text searching - The Quick Search is now a Full Text Search. Doing this not only increases the speed of your search but will also allow you to search for more criteria then before. Full text searching will now allow searching by Title, Publisher, Creator, full ISBN, Subject, publisher entered Keywords, anything in the MARC Record such as, Control number and Library of Congress subject headings. With Full text searching, search on more than one term and the search will rank searches by relevance. In early 2009 the short and full descriptions will be searchable as well as all metadata entered by the publisher. Please note the advanced search will remain the same for the time being.

Awards - Currently you can search in Content Reserve by the 60 plus awards we offer. Now your patrons will also be able to search on these awards from at your Advanced search page on your virtual branch. Some notable awards are:

Newbery Medal
Best Audio Books
PEN/Faulkner Award
Audie Awards
