LINC Policy Council Nominations open

LINC Policy Council nominations are now open.  New members are needed to represent the following: 

1 At-Large Representative, 

1 Special/Academic Representative, and 

2 School Representatives.  

Directors should submit names of possible members here.  The deadline for submitting names is August 1.

UPC Number Index

We've added a new UPC Number Index to the Horizon client search indexes.  When you do a search (F2) in Horizon, you will see this index below 'Horizon Bib #.  It's called the 'UPC, Other Standard Idenfier' and includes UPC and other numbers that have been included in the 024 field of the MARC record.

LINC statistics posted

We've posted another 6 month summary (January - June 2009) of LINC Interlibrary Loan, Reciprocal Borrowing, and Circulation statistics. At this web site is an explanation of how the statistics were produced, as well as the statistical tables themselves.

-Interlibrary Loan data, which tracks where materials circulate and what is circulated that belongs to other locations.  This data is available for all libraries.
-Reciprocal Borrowing data, which tracks where patrons go to borrow materials as well as what patrons used your location.  This data applies to public libraries only.
-Circulation Statistics, which is a summary of all checkouts and renewals at each location.  This data is available for all libraries.

Libraries that need individual monthly data should use the WebReporter reports referenced in the statistical explanations to produce their own monthly reports.

Purging of Borrower Records begins in August

Lincoln Trail will begin purging LINC library borrower records, based on a long standing LINC policy, that meet the following (the patron must meet *all* the criteria):

-borrower record's last use was prior to 7/15/2005

-borrower record has no outstanding holds

-borrower record has no outstanding items checked out

-borrower owes $5 or less in fines

This process will commence 8/3 and continue until all public libraries borrowers that meet the above criteria are deleted. We will schedule times in September/October to purge records for school, special and academic libraries. 

If you would like a count of borrower records that would meet the criteria above and a total of all block amounts which would be waived (a total of outstanding charges of $5 or less) before the actual deletion, please contact Rita Johnson, rjohns@lincolntrail.info, by email or phone stating which library you represent and that you would like "the count of borrower records".

If you would like a file sent via email containing a list of borrower numbers/names that could *not* be deleted due to block charges exceeding the $5 threshold, or due to claims returned or lost items, please contact Rita Johnson by email (rjohns@lincolntrail.info) stating the library you represent and that you would like "the borrower file sent".

If Lincoln Trail has not received a request for either of the two choices above by 8/3, then we will begin the purging process. 

MyMediaMall Training

EPUB Titles now on MyMediaMall

MyMediaMall, as of July 9, now has 15 EPUB titles available for checkout.  The MyMediaMall collection committee will continue building that selection with additional purchases.  

The EPUB titles are Sony® Reader-compatible eBooks. Offering small file sizes and the ability to resize text so that it reflows depending on the size of a screen, the EPUB eBooks can also be enjoyed on Windows and Mac computers using Adobe Digital Editions.
