We've received official notification from Champaign Public Library and Urbana Free Library that they will be leaving the LINC automation group and moving to their own Polaris automation system effective December 5, 2011. We are developing a timeline for this change and wanted to share some initial dates that will have impact on your patrons' interlibrary loan and reciprocal lending options. That tentative timeline, subject to change, is briefly described here:
10/17/2011
- IHLS will input a standard due date for all checkouts from CHN to the LINC libraries. The due date will be November 1st for all checkouts, in effect creating a recall of items in the system.
- IHLS will create a standard due date for all checkouts from URN to the LINC libraries. The due date will be November 1st for all checkouts, in effect creating a recall of items in the system.

- Last day for CHN and URN’s patrons to place a hold on other LINC libraries’ items.
- Last day for LINC libraries’ patrons to place a hold on CHN and URN items.
- Even though IHLS will have an “official” shut off date for the placement of holds, IHLS will then proceed with deletion of outstanding holds for CHN and URN patrons where the item is only owned by a LINC library. If CHN or URN possess a copy the hold will remain. Patrons will receive email and paper notification that holds have been deleted from their accounts, as needed.

11/29/2011
- Last day to use LINC for circulation for CHN and URN staff and patrons. All CHN and URN patron records will be set as expired after that date.
12/12-16/2011
- Sirsi/Dynix will begin removing all account, item, patron, and bibliographic references to CHN and URN from Horizon
LINC Policy Council will be meeting in September to discuss additional issues, and we will post new information or timeline changes as we move through this process. Please remember that the IHLS Resource Sharing Policy is still in effect for all system libraries and libraries should continue to share resources as they have in the past, within the constraints of this timeline.
