LINC Update

LINCPac rebuild scheduled for 3/14/2012

In order to fix some problems we are having with the main LINCPac server, we will be rebuilding the machine on Wednesday, 3/14, from 8 am to noon.  

We will have a 'test' version of LINCPac available instead which may look slightly different and will be missing some patron functionality (My Lists), so while the test PAC is in use you may see some differences but the product will be available for searching and requesting.

Pat Boze announces resignation

Pat Boze, LLSAP Manager for the LINC libraries, is resigning from the Illinois Heartland Library System to take a position at the Illinois State Library.  Pat has worked with the LINC libraries for 21 years and enjoyed almost every minute of it (except the down time) because it allowed her to work with wonderful librarians and staff.  

Staff at the IHLS-Champaign office who will continue to serve the LINC libraries include:  Mary Johnston, David Lottes, Robert Brady, Liz Perkins, Alissa Marcum, Donna Schaal, Ramona Rollins, Vanessa Whippo, and Michelle Ralston. Continue to contact staff via the LINC automation phone, 217-352-0047, x1 during weekday business hours or on the emergency phone (217-979-1182) available after business hours and on weekends for downtime emergency issues only. 

MyMediaMall announcements

Here are a couple of announcements related to MyMediaMall (Overdrive).

1. Random House, Inc. raised its eBook prices on March 1, 2012. This Library Journal article has the most complete information on the subject.  Libraries are asked to contact publishers directly to express concern about this increase.

2. For the first time, libraries and schools worldwide can add the complete works of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling to their MyMediaMall/Overdrive book lending collections.

3. OverDrive, Inc. (www.overdrive.com) announced it has acquired Australian eBook company Booki.sh (http://booki.sh). Booki.sh is the developer of a cloud-based platform for distributing, selling and reading popular eBooks from anywhere and on any device with a modern web browser.
