The Illinois State Library Diversity Program will present “Empowering Library Staff to Meet the Needs of the Spanish Speaking Community” on June 5, 2007, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at the Metropolitan Library System, Chicago Office, 224 S. Michigan Avenue, Suite 680, Chicago. This workshop is for all library staff. Participants will learn about the challenges and benefits of reaching out to serve the Spanish speaking community, the differences and strengths in communication styles, and techniques for reaching out and marketing the public library. The National Film Preservation Foundation invites applications for its Basic Preservation Grants. These cash grants are awarded to nonprofit and public institutions for laboratory work to preserve culturally and historically significant film materials.
Grants are available to public and nonprofit institutions in the United States that provide public access to their collections, including those that are part of federal, state, or local government.
