A Nation of Readers

Untitled The Big Read, a national program to encourage literary reading and revitalize the role of literature in American culture, is accepting applications from non-profit organizations, including libraries and museums, to conduct month-long, community-wide reads between September 2008 and June 2009.

2010 IREAD Theme Announced

IREAD has announced that the theme for the 2010 Summer Reading Program is "Scare Up a Good Book!" IREAD will also be running an art contest among the young adults of Illinois to choose the art for the 2010 IREAD Young Adult posters and t-shirts. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Workshop: What Every Nonprofit Needs to Know About Fundraising

Joan Flanagan, nationally known fundraising trainer and author of "The Grass Roots Fundraising Book," will present a workshop at the Rosebud Theater in Effingham on February 21, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsored by the Helen Mathes Library in Effingham, the workshop cost, including lunch, is $20.
