Gale/Library Media Connection TEAMS Award to Honor Teacher and Media Specialist Collaborations

The Gale/Library Media Connection TEAMS Award recognizes and encourages the critical collaboration between the teacher and media specialist to promote learning and increase student achievement. All K-12 public and private schools in the United States and Canada are eligible to enter.

Three winners will receive a $2,500 cash award; Gale products (approximate value $500); a one-year subscription to Library Media Connection; and Educator's Professional Bookshelf (approximate value $500) from Linworth Publishing. OCLC announces reference skills web session

OCLC is sponsoring a Web Session entitled 'Smiling Online: Applying face-to-face reference skills in a virtual environment' on April 16 at 1:00 p.m. (central). The RGK Foundation 2008 Social Program Support Grants

The RGK Foundation supports organizations throughout the U.S. that offer innovative programs in the following categories: 1) Education, which includes programs that focus on K-12 education (particularly mathematics, science, and reading), teacher development, literacy, and higher education; 2) Medicine/Health, programs that promote the health and well-being of children and programs that increase access to health services; and 3) Community, which targets a broad range of human services, community improvement, abuse prevention, and youth development programs. All Nonprofit organizations including government institutions are eligible. All applicants must complete an electronic Letter of Inquiry from the Web site as the first step. Past recipeients include Library Foundation of Los Angeles, The Queens Library Foundation, Friends of the San Benito County Free Library, and Embudo Valley Library in NM. NEA Creativity and Aging in America Grants

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announces funds to actively engage older Americans in quality arts programs. Through this initiative, NEA will support exemplary projects in the disciplines of literature and music. Projects must be conducted by professional artists and engage older adults (65 and above) as students, artists, and/or teachers.

Eligibility: City or township governments, county governments, independent school districts, public and state controlled institutions of higher education, state governments, nonprofit organizations, and private institutions of higher education.

Approximately 15 awards ranging from $15,000-$25,000. A match is required. For more information visit the NEA website
