Free Recycled PCs from the Secretary of State

If you would like to take a free-of-charge PC for use in your library, recycled from the Secretary of State's Office, please send an email to Michelle Ralston (mralst@lincolntrail.info) as soon as possible. Please indicate that you will commit to taking a PC(s) and how many you would like. Requests will be honored on a first come, first served basis until the supply is exhausted. Please see below for specific information:

The Office of the Secretary of State will send free-of-charge recycled personal computers for your pickup at your Regional Library System headquarters.

*    The personal computers carry no guarantee, they are "scrubbed" (i.e., no operating system such as Windows or software such as MS Office), they have 120MB memory, Pentium III processors or better.  Peripherals such as monitors, mice, and keyboards are available.  Some speakers are available and some units have sound cards.
Libraries would need to agree to the following:
*    I understand that the personal computers have no guarantee, that my institution is responsible for all maintenance, software and Internet connectivity.
*    I understand that the personal computer must be used in my library.
*    I understand that I would be responsible for reporting the property control numbers of the equipment I receive to the Office of the Secretary of State.  My institution would only need to do this once.
*    My institution is either a tax-supported library established by or as a governmental unit, or a not-for-profit entity (as determined by the Internal Revenue Service).
*    I understand that my institution's representative would be responsible for picking up the unit(s) at my Regional Library System headquarters.
