Best Practices for the Customer Focused Library

Do I have enough signage, or too much? Do patrons pay any attention to my displays? Where do they congregate, and how can I get their attention? How can I best inform patrons of my programs and services while they are in the library?

Metropolitan Library System, in partnership with four member libraries, wrote an LSTA grant to bring in a nationally recognized retail space consulting firm to help understand the changing needs of library patrons. The results of the study were presented by Envirosell Inc. on April 29th. Now come hear best practices for a customer-focused library, and listen the libraries themselves detail their plans for implementing the study's recommendations.

Lincoln-Douglas Debates Exhibit - Update

We have received word that the availability of the Lincoln-Douglas Exhibit for LTLS libraries has been extended until September 2009.  This means we will be able to accommodate more requests from libraries that want to host this attractive exhibit. Dsc01235

At present we have interest from 7 LTLS libraries and a preliminary schedule is being developed.  Marshall, Watseka, Paris, Charleston, Bement, Danville, and Champaign Public Libraries will be on the initial schedule.

If you are interested in hosting the exhibit at your library or in a community location, please contact Joe Sciacca.  See the previous blog posts from June 17 and June 11 for more information.  At present, time slots are available for December 2008 and March - September 2009.
