Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White has announced the winners of "Essays About Lincoln", a statewide contest in which students were asked to write a modern day version of the Gettysburg Address, as part of the 200th anniversary celebration of Lincoln's birth.
LTLS-area students from Danville and Paxton are among the winners. At the 7-8th Grade Level, Evan King of Paxton won third place. Tara Cody, also of Paxton, was a finalist. In the 9-12th Grade Level, Teresa Cooper of Danville won second place. Dean Eighammer, Nick Pellegrini, and Julie Smith, of Danville, were finalists. Matt Chamberlain and Jessica Holmes, of Danville, were semi-finalists.
