The William M. Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College will present professional storytellers Kim Petzing from Allerton Park and Kim Sheahan from the Spurlock Museum into the dome for an hour of stories, science, and cultural diversity. They'll join planetarium coordinator Dave Leake in performing "Dusk to Dawn: Stories of the Night Sky" on Friday, February 29, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for students, senior citizens, and children under 12, payable at the door.
Early civilizations tried to explain observed phenomena by way of stories that have been handed down through the generations. "Dusk to Dawn" features stories from Canada, Peru, Estonia, and the early Americas, all told live beneath the dome. The program is appropriate for students in fifth grade and above.
