Kathy Leary, Financial Literacy Coordinator for Central Illinois Debt Management & Credit Education, Inc., will present “CreditSmart® – All About Credit” at the Danville Public Library on Monday, March 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The free program will be held in the first floor Meeting Room.
CreditSmart® is a trademarked program offered by Freddie Mac, the nation’s second largest mortgage buyer. The program will cover the following topics: Your Credit and Why it is Important; Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit; Understanding Credit Scoring; Restoring Your Credit; and Avoiding Credit Traps. All participants will receive a workbook titled “CreditSmart®: A Guide to Better Credit, Money Management, and Responsible Homeownership.”
Central Illinois Debt Management & Credit Education, Inc., is a non-profit agency whose mission is to help the community and clients achieve and maintain financial stability. They do not lend money. The Danville Public Library is open six days a week, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Use of the library’s materials inside the library is free and open to all. To borrow materials, residents within the Danville city limits may obtain a free borrower’s card at the Checkout Desk, upon showing a photo ID and one other item showing their name and current street address. People who live within another library’s taxing district may use their local library card. People who live outside any library’s taxing district may purchase a non-resident card from an Illinois library and use it at other Illinois libraries. People who live outside a library taxing district but own property within a library’s taxing district may obtain one free card for every parcel of land they own.
