The Danville Public Library is holding a drawing for two free tickets to the Danville Symphony Orchestra’s March 14 concert, “Classical Masterworks”, featuring cellist Alexandre Bouzlov. The winning entry will be drawn at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11. The winner will be notified by telephone. Tickets are provided compliments of the Danville Symphony Orchestra. Entry forms are available at the Checkout Desk on the first floor of the library.
Hailed as one of the most promising young cellists in decades, Russian-born Alexandre Bouzlov has been thrilling audiences with his talent and expressive playing technique as he travels the world. Bouzlov and the Danville Symphony Orchestra will perform “Concerto No. 1 in A Minor” by Saint-Saens. Additional selections will include the “Academic Festival Overture” by Brahms, “Symphony No. 8” by Dvorak, and a performance of Prokofiev’s “Concerto No. 3” by the 2009 Gail and Harry Adams Young Artists Competition winner, Kathy Qiu of Champaign, Illinois.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Danville High School and is sponsored by Chittick Family Eye Care and the Danville Symphony Orchestra Foundation. Maestro Jeremy Swerling will present “Moments with the Maestro” at 6:45 p.m. in the DHS auditorium lobby.
