June 13: At 6:30 p.m. in the first floor Meeting Room, the Danville Public Library will show “Field of Dreams”, starring Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, Ray Liotta, Timothy Busfield, James Earl Jones, and Burt Lancaster in his last major film appearance. The film is based on the book, ”Shoeless Joe” by W. P. Kinsella. The program is free and is the second in the Library’s film and discussion series, “The New Classics: Great Books to Great films from the Past 50 Years.” Public performance rights are made possible by a grant from the Danville Library Foundation.
June 13: From 4:30 to 6 p.m., Gessie, Indiana native Thomas Hollowell will return to the Danville Public Library to talk about and autograph his new book, “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Barefoot Running.” The book signing is part of his “Dare to Go Bare” book tour to encourage people to try this new approach to running. He’ll offer some remarks at the beginning of the program, and will have copies of his book available for purchase and autographing.
June 20: Danville Public Library’s “Monday Matinee” series will feature the film “Invictus,” starring Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as the captain of the South Africa rugby team, at 2 p.m. in the first floor Meeting Room. The program is free. A portion of the refreshments are made possible by a generous donation from the Wolford Apartments, and the public performance rights are made possible by a grant from the Danville Library Foundation.
