Maria Sermersheim will conduct the program. She is certified in nutrition education, is very experienced in working with children, and has a BS in Agriculture. She has conducted many nutrition and gardening programs for children at the library. With grants from Keep Vermilion County Beautiful, she created the fruit, vegetable and flower gardens on the west lawn of the library and uses them as learning tools for children and teens.
During the six sessions, children will be taught proper cooking techniques, food safety, healthy diet, recreation activities, basic gardening and easy delicious cultural recipes. Each of the six sessions is geared towards an important topic in nutrition and being physically active.
