Booklist Online adds new youth content, navigation

A new Book Links landing page and related feature content have been added to Booklist Online following the recent transition of Book Links from being a standalone subscription magazine to a free quarterly supplement to Booklist.

Book Links has been helping connect children with books around curriculum themes for nearly 20 years and now increases its reach through both the print supplement and the enhanced online presence.

The Book Links content on Booklist Online is fully searchable, via both Quick Search and the Feature Advanced Search page, and offers links to related content throughout the site.

ALSC announces exceptional Web sites for children

The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association, has added more recommended Web sites to Great Web Sites for Kids (www.ala.org/greatsites), its online resource containing hundreds of links to commendable Web sites for children.

New Online Resource Focuses on Children and Teens

A new Web-based resource has just been released that will help library advocates make the case for libraries in the lives of children and teens. "Add It Up: Libraries Make the Difference in Youth Development and Education" is available at www.ala.org/additup .

"A growing body of research and studies now proves what the library community already knows is true: libraries are indispensable in the lives of children and teens. The problem is that until now, it has been difficult to distill all that data into products that library advocates can easily use and funders can easily understand," says Keith Michael Fiels, Executive Director of the American Library Association (ALA). "This new online resource does just that. The goal is to help library advocates articulate the positive, transformational impact that public libraries and school library media programs have on children and teens."

Youth Media Awards

The 2009 Youth Media Award announcements will take place on January 26, 2009 at 7:45 a.m. (Mountain Time) at the Den.ver Convention Center.  If you are interested in following the awards in a "real time" mode, you have two options:
1.  You can check out the ALA Youth Media Awards Webcast or
2.  You can follow the awards on Twitter

These awards will include the Newbery, Caldecott,and Printz awards, as well as a host of others.

If those two options don't work, you can watch an encore presentation of the Youth Media Awards Webcase on the ALA Island Main Stage in Second Life.
